Raised in Putney, in southwest London, Jason Flemyng is the son of a television director. He attended Richmond College, then graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts before being accepted into the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company.

He appeared in several British television productions, even playing a regular role on series such as Rich Tea and Sympathy (1991) and Doctor Finlay (1993 to 1996). He made two guest appearances on ABC's The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles before making his big screen debut in a live action version of Disney's hit animated film The Jungle Book (1994), starring John Cleese and Cary Elwes.

The following year, Jason played a supporting role in the big budget blockbuster Rob Roy (1995) starring Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange. Jason won the Best Actor Award at the Geneva Film Festival for his role in 1996's Alive and Kicking, then went on to appear in Snatch (1998) directed by Guy Ritchie, played the lead role in Bruiser (2000) and a rock singer who gets replaced by Mark Wahlberg in Rock Star (2001). In The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, he played Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Edward Hyde, opposite Sean Connery and in Clash of the Titans (2010), he played Calibos.

More recently he made his debut as a director with the comedy horror film Eat Local (2017), for which he received a "Best European Film" nomination at the 2017 Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film (BIFFF).

Jason lives in London, England, where he is a part owner of The Duchess Bar. He married actress Elly Fairman on June 6, 2008.
