JULIETTE LEWIS

Date of Birth: June 21, 1973

Daughter of actor Geoffrey Lewis, Juliette's heart was always set on acting. Born in L.A., one of 11 siblings and half-siblings, she began acting at the age of 12 in the mini series Home Fries. By the age of 14, after three weeks in high school, Lewis was emancipated with complete support from her parents so that she could work full time. She dropped out to concentrate completely on her career.

Although a rough start—she was arrested for being a minor at an underground disco—didn't help her career, by 1989 she had a regular gig on the television series, The Wonder Years. After a year of filming, Lewis landed a co-starring role in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) as the Griswold's daughter, Audrey.

Two years later, she stunned viewers and critics with her brilliant portrayal of a vulnerable 15-year-old struggling for independence from her warring parents in the feature Cape Fear (1991). The performance earned her nominations for Best Supporting Actress from the Golden Globes and Academy Awards. The exposure led to a slew of starring roles in offbeat and independent movies including Natural Born Killers (1994), From Dusk 'Til Dawn (1996) and The Other Sister (1999).

Lewis' career took a downspin from a lack of starring roles in major films and it seemed she had dropped out of Hollywood radar, but she has begun to work her way back with supporting roles in major motion pictures such as Cold Creek Manor (2003), Starsky & Hutch (2004), Whip It (2009), The Switch (2010), Due Date (2010), Foreverland (2012), Open Road (2013), and August: Osage County (2013). She's also enjoyed recurring roles on several TV series, including The Firm, based on the bestselling novel by John Grisham, Wayward Pines, and Secrets and Lies.

Lewis was also be seen in the TV series adaptation Jem and the Holograms (2015), the crime thriller Nerve (2016) starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, and the dark comedy/fantasy Dreamland (2020), directed by Bruce McDonald and starring Stephen McHattie.

Besides film and television, Lewis has also worked in a number of commercials including for Guess? jeans, Acura Integra, and Gap Denim, and played the role of a suicidal mental patient in Melissa Etheridge's music video, Come to My Window.

A member of the Church of Scientology, Lewis' hobbies include collecting antique clothing and walking around with a tape recorder documenting everyday moments in an effort to capture reality for future use in her film career.

Lewis married professional skateboarder Steve Berra in 1999 but they divorced in 2005.
