The 92nd Academy Award nominations were announced this morning by John Cho and Issa Rae. Todd Phillips' Joker led the pack with 11 nominations. Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Sam Mendes‘ 1917 followed close behind with 10 nods each. As expected, these films will compete for Best Picture along with Ford v Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Little Women, Marriage Story and Parasite.
Once again, female directors were completely shut out. Issa Rae was speaking for many disappointed fans when she announced the nominees in the Best Director category and added: "Congratulations to those men." Both the Golden Globes and the Directors Guild of America awards shut out women directors in favor of male nominees.
Parasite made history as it becomes the first South Korean movie to be nominated for Best Picture and Best International Film. Parasite's Bong Joon Ho picked up a nod for Best Director, in addition to Original Screenplay with Jin Won Han.
Despite its massive box office success, Frozen II was snubbed in the Best Animated Film category. Jennifer Lopez, who was a front-runner in the Best Supporting Actress category, was also snubbed, missing out on her first Oscar nod.
For the second year in a row, there will be no host during the Oscars. The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, February 9, 2020.~Marriska Fernandes

I get that they always want at least 1 woman to be nominated for a "big" category like Best Pic or Director, but if there were no great movies directed by a female, wouldn't they just feel like it a was a token nomination with no real chance of winning.
Well, I can name several off the top of my head, and strangely enough, they were nominated in other categories but not director: Harriet, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Little Women.
The fact that Robert D. and Adam S. were ignored, is inexcusable.
Jennifer Lopez should have been nominated for Best Actress.
I think the Oscars are loosing their minds or they just do not care who deserves to win or who should be nominated Brad Pitt are you kidding me if you are going to give a nomination for supporting anyone it should go to the little girl I do not know her name but she stole the movie lets face it it was not Leonardo DiCaprio best performance he has done a lot better Wolf of Wallstreet for example and has far as best picture are they serious just because a director decides to finally make a movie in sequence from the beginning straight through the end without jumping up and down does not make it a great movie pulp fiction was clearly a much better film
I agree I will not be watching the Oscars this year thankyou but know thankyou
and yet he decides to retire from acting I think that he Daniel Day Lewis is the best actor of our generation lets face it is a fact. Now I think that he has been the only actor since the Academy existed,.that really deserved to win best actor for a motion picture all three times.
