Kick off the tailgate season with the exciting premiere of "Walk Ons: Huskers' Edge!" NET Television's high-definition film tells the story of the University of Nebraska's football walk-on program, from its start in the early 1960s, to its near demise more than four decades later, and more recently to its revitalization under Bo Pelini.
Young men come to the University of Nebraska from states across the nation, eager to play for the five-time national championship team.
But not every player has to travel far -- some come from tiny towns scattered across Nebraska and proudly "walk on" to the field simply to fulfill their lifelong dream of playing for Nebraska. "Walk Ons: Huskers' Edge" will give viewers a rare insider's look at what some call the "heart and soul" of the Huskers.
