The most sensual and stunning movies I`ve ever seen. I will see it again and buy it when it`s out on DVD. Gerard Butler is passionate and mesmerizing in this role.

The actors really did an excelent job of bringing the characters to life, and their voices were phenomenal. This was one of the best movies that I have seen in years.

User review rating: 0 December 30, 2004

Amazing. Initially, I didn`t want to go see it. I had seen the musical and didn`t think the movie would be that great but I was very wrong. Great job!!!

I have always wanted to see The Phantom of the Opera. I never knew the story until i have seen the movie. And I loved it! And the voice of the Phantom always gives me goose-bumps when he uses his powerful, contolling voice. When I was at the store, I saw the soundtrack for The Phantom of the Opera. When i grabbed it, my friend wanted to know what i grabbed. And when i showed her, she wanted one too. I swear, I am obsessed with this movie. If anyone who is reading this hasn`t seen this movie, go see it! It`s excellent!!

Gerard Butler was amazing as the Phantom

User review rating: 0 December 30, 2004

I loved this movie. It had all of the things that I loved about the play, and then some. The acting was incredible, and it`s hard to believe that Emmy Rossum (who plays Christine) is only 18! Her voice is sweet but mature, and her acting is perfect for the part. Credit should also go to Gerard Butler, he brings a new twist to the character of the phantom, and his singing is amazing. The only thing dissappointing about this movie is that it is only in select theatres. I`ve seen it once, and I plan to see it at least 2 more times in the theatre.

One of the best movies I`ve seen in a long time. Not a dull moment. If you enjoyed the live production, you will certainly enjoy the movie. Must see!!!

User review rating: 0 December 30, 2004

perfect tranfer from stage to screen. Emmy rossum was perfect as Christine. I fact I think that the story works better on film than on stage.

Having seen the Broadway production and a touring production in Boston, I must say the film surpassed all my expectations as it actually improved on the source material. Patrick Wilson is already a proven theatrical commodity, and Gerry Butler and Emmy Rossum are true finds. All three were fantastic. I must say, I prefer the PHANTOM film over its stage incarnation. Critics be damned, I am absolutely enamored by this movie.

A very moving love story at it`s finest! Great job and performances from all who were involved in this grandeur opera. I`ve seen the live stage play and the movie adds more spice to the whole production and I love this version, thank you and all the best wishes into the new year.

Bravi, bravi! Joel Schumacher has really done the musical justice. Michael Crawford may have defined the Phantom, but Gerard Butler really made us FEEL the Phantom. Contrary to others, I thought the casting was superb and that Emmy Rossum really did a fantastic job, being so young. A real spectacle and feast for the eyes and ears! The MUST-see for the year, and surely in the Oscars` good books!!!

This movie is so wonderful, especially if you loved the Phantom in the theatre. Everyone was cast perfectly - Christine was brilliant and Gerard Butler as the Phantom was mesmerizing. See the movie. Go on...get!

I have the soudtrack and WOW. I have been waiting this since 86. Thanks Lord Webber for the screenplay and the great movie.

Wonderful! The cinematography is excellent with amazing camera angles! Emmy Rossum has a lovely voice (a hard thing to admit since I`m a huge Sarah Brightman fan) that I hope she keeps using. I loved Minnie Driver as Carlotta! Gerard Butler had incredible talent as an actor and sang quite well despite not having singing lessons. He added real pathos! I have to admit that they could have made him look more deformed. The music, as always, brought tears to my eyes. Andrew Lloyd Webber sure knows how to compose music that touches a person`s soul.

i recently watched the phantom of the opera on the weekend and loved it. The first song that rossum sang brung tears to my eyes! the costumes were extravagant and all the songs were overwhelming. Gerard butler was a very good looking phantom .. but im sure many of us dont mind :)he had a very enticing voice which drew you into the film. I overall highly reccomend it as a teenager go see it!

Visually stunning! From the moment it started I was captivated. Phantom definitely must been seen in the theater to be totally appreciated.

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

I loved it! Anyone who appreciated the stage production will definitely love the way Joel Schumacher has transferred it to film.

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

it was ok, but there were too many flashbacks and there was stuff in the movie you`d NEVER see in the play..things like the graveyard fighting, and the phantom threatening to kill raoul...a bit scary but the music is just as enchanting as ever.

It was the best Christmas present I could have ever imagined. It was superb. I absolutely love the theatre version and have seen it done 5 times over the years. I was a bit apprehensive about a film version, but I also wanted one done. I was concerned it wouldn`t give me the same chills as the theatrical version, but it did. I`ve seen the movie twice already and plan to see it again before it leaves the movie theatres. Mr Lloyd Webber and Mr Schumacher should be applauded for this magnificent piece of work.

Not quite as astonishing as the stage musical, but a wonderful adaptation nonetheless. Emmy Rossum was perfect as Christine, and Gerard Butler turned in a fiendish performance as the Phantom. However, Butler does not have the best singing voice, and it would have been nice to see a more capable singer in this large role. The set design and art direction were over the top, with many beautiful colourful sets. The critics who provided scathing reviews are completely wrong, as others have said. This movie was one of the best of 2004.

Loved it Loved it Loved it. This movie will appeal to those who love musical theatre. All performances were done superbly.

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

Absolutely amazing film version of an all time masterpiece. True to the stage show, they took this from the stage to the screen and back again. A.L. Webber has something to be very very proud off. Do I hear picture of the year?

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

This movie was beautifully done. The cinematography was spectacular. The classic story of the Phantom of the Opera was depicted wonderfully in this adaption. The movie definitely lived up to the theatre production. 5 stars!

User review rating: 0 December 28, 2004

Stunning! I waited a long time for this film. Almost perfect. Someone who could sing opera should have been cast in the Minnie Driver role as she did not sing. An older phantom perhaps - but forgiveable. An A!

Just saw Phatom of the Opera today. It is as captivating and spectacular as the Broadway hit. The costumes and sets are lavish and absolutely breathtaking. Emma Rossum is perfectly cast in the role of Christine and my heart swooned for Gerard Butler who played the Phantom. The music is fantastic and Minnie Driver is absolutely great in her role as La Carlotta. I give this a 5 star rating for this very impressive film.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE IN A LONG TIME. LOVE THE SOUNDTRACK. PERFECT SELECTION OF ACTORS AND ACTRESSES FOR EACH ROLE. I WILL SEE IT AGAIN.

User review rating: 0 December 27, 2004

It was wonderful, Gerhard Butler is a hot Phantom, and the set is a gorgeous fantasy. Christine`s singing was a bit thin (not rich enough and lip synch not well done) and the Phantom struggled to reach the broad vocal range required. The underground sets were excellent, something that can`t be done in a stage production. I`d watch it many times for the visual effects, but nobody sings a Christine like Sarah Brightman.

The critics thought "Closer" with Julia Roberts was out of this world. Goes to show you that critics don`t always have it right. (PS, Closer was a piece of junk) But the Phantom.....what a work of ART. If you like musicals, fabulous costumes and an utterly mesmerizing cast, then you will love the Phantom.
