I can't say it better than the review below. So true!

I'd give the cast and crew an "A" for effort, but creating a full movie based on a one man show was clearly a risk that didn't pay off. It is mostly telling, not showing, to the point of frustration. The viewer wants to enter the world we're given glimpses of, but we're constantly pulled out for further rather tedious elucidation. This results in very little emotional connection with Lewis the young man, though we're expected to care because of his intellectual struggle. Think of being yanked out of Narnia every few minutes by an over-eager parent who wants to explicate the world you're already seeing. Unless you're a Lewis-o-phile, or you know someone who wrestles on a similar intellectual plain as the author, I'd stick to reading Surprised By Joy and using your own imagination to fill in the blanks.
