For 19 days, the makers of this documentary had unprecedented access to Canada's only maximum-security prison for women. Observing and interviewing nearly 100 inmates, they provide a non-judgmental look at a group of people wrestling with guilt and persecution, anger and repentance, loneliness and love, hope and despair.

Three convicts become the focus of the film and their struggles serve as revealing microcosms of the prison's entire population.
