CINEMA–THON will be a large scale, multi disciplinary arts celebration. The event will be the fifth of a series of very popular art making marathon events organized by local visual artist Tim Rechner. CINEMA-THON will feature live in-house filmmaking opportunities, collaborative drawing, film screenings of Prairie Tales 2008 as well as the results of the first ever FAVA high definition film challenge, high profile music performances, djs, drinks, food and infinite good times. The purpose of this event is to increase awareness of Metro Cinema and our cinematic programming, to raise funds towards the purchase of a high definition projector for Metro Cinema as well as to host the most happening, stimulating, multi disciplinary arts event of the summer. This event offers a unique opportunity for community growth and collaboration. As this is an Edmonton based event with an emphasis on showcasing local talent, we are looking to foster a sense of community among artists and audiences. We are providing participants with filmmaking supplies (scratching and painting on film) and visual art materials (collaborative drawings on paper). We will also be providing snacks and a stacked lineup of some of the best entertainment that Edmonton artists have to offer.
