In this trailer for Wild Nights with Emily we are given a look back at the life behind the myth of the famed poet, Emily Dickinson. From Emily's private letters we see she was fond of a woman named Susan, the daughter of a local tavern keeper. However, Susan is betrothed to Emily's brother despite her heart belonging to Emily. Years later, when the women are reunited, their affection for each other is still strong. Looking to be a published poet and using Susan as her muse, Emily is met with resistance by the men of her time who failed to recognize her talent for what it was simply because she was a woman.
