Theater Reviews

Showing 1 to 1 of 1

Establishment needs to be managed by professionals.

December 30, 2016

It is very unfortunate that I have to review this horribly. After having our premier production there, I will never return. I was contracted to have a Technical Director and Stage Manager which I didn't have. I was told by the staff working that it was shut off every night and we would have to get a key from the office managers office to turn it back on. I was contracted to have heat and every night at 7pm, the heat went off. I had to bring up my students ages 3-18 to the theatre because the basement was so cold. The students working were extremely rude to me and my staff when asked if there was heat, the student "working" the lights said, "why don't you just jog to keep yourself warm". That same "worker", after being there for 10 minutes said to me after I said, "we need to stretch that floor before its taped," said, "well are you going to bring in a stretcher,". I was shocked as I just literally walked in and while we were scheduled to start rehearsals at 5pm, I couldn't begin until 8pm because we had to wait until the stage was set. I asked to not pay for Wednesday, but was denied. When I brought these issues up to the new Palace Manager, he smirked in my face and laughed it off. He then said to another Palace worker, "I am a strong guy, she is a strong woman, and I have problems with that". I produced a two page document to the Board Head and he deflected the problem BACK to the Palace Manager whom I had 45% of the problems with. After realizing that the individuals who were to work my production weren't schooled in lighting and music, I had to hire in a professional to run the show. I was charged for singers I didn't approve and I'm sure they didn't get paid. I have managed very large city events for 12 years and this is the most unprofessional establishment I have every encountered. No customer service, inept management and workers left to fend for themselves and simply did
