Born in Trento, Italy, to veteran actress Rosalba Neri, Francesca became a noted star in Europe before crossing the pond. She received the Silver Ribbon Award for Best Actress from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists twice for her work.

She has also received two nominations for the David di Donatello Award (Italy's equivalent of Oscar), for her performance in Dolce Rumore Della Vita II and I Amo Andrea (both 1999).

Other notable films include Carne Tremula (Live Flesh) (1997), ¡Dispara! (1993) and Las Edades De Lulú (1990), in which she played opposite Spain's most popular leading men.

Making her American debut in the laughable and highly forgettable Captain America, Neri returned to her native land to continue her ascent into the spotlight.

After years of highly acclaimed work in Europe, she returned to America to try her luck again. Neri first received widespread notice States side when she played the role of Alegra in the blockbuster, Hannibal (2001).

Neri has one son, Rocco with award-winning Italian actor, Claudio Amendola.
