Born: October 08, 1943

Date of Birth: October 8, 1943

Born in New York City, Cornelius Crane Chase (nicknamed Chevy by his grandmother) began his career as a comedy writer for the Smothers Brothers and National Lampoon. He made his feature film debut in The Groove Tube (1974) which garnered him a spot on the cast of Saturday Night Live during its first season. A year later he was on his way to Hollywood with his quick wit and slapstick sight gags. He earned a Golden Globe nomination for his motion picture acting debut in Foul Play (1978), co-starring Goldie Hawn.

Somewhere along the way Chase discovered a penchant for drugs and alcohol, and stifled his career with a string of less than mediocre films. With rehab behind him, and four National Lampoon's Vacation movies to his credit, Chase returned to his roots and the more rewarding career he planned for himself.

Married and divorced twice, Chase and third wife, Jaynie Luke, have three daughters. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994, at 7021 Hollywood Blvd.
