Wonka regains the top spot at the weekend box office

One of the new movies that opened Christmas Day made it into the top five at the weekend box office, while Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom took a drop in its second weekend. Check out the standings below.

Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet climb back up to regain the top spot at the weekend box office, earning an additional $24 million for a three-week total of $134.6 million. Click here to read our review.

Last weekend's top movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa, dropped to second place, taking in $19.5 million for a two-week total of $77.8 million.

The animated film Migration about a mallard family flying south held onto third, earning an extra $17.2 million for a two-week total of $54.3 million.

The musical The Color Purple debuted in fourth place, taking in $13 million over the weekend for a total of $45.3 million since it debuted on Christmas Day.

Rounding out the top five was the romantic comedy Anyone But You starring Sydney Sweeney, earning an additional $9 million for a two-week total of $25 million.
