Scarlett Johansson
The 32-year-old actress spoke about her early days as a kid growing up on welfare during an episode of Inside the Actors Studio.
"We were living on welfare, we were on food stamps," Scarlett said in a clip from tonight's episode. "My parents were raising four kids in a low-income household in Manhattan. So, it was a lot."
Scarlett started her acting career at age nine and following her starring role at age 14 in the 1998 movie The Horse Whisperer, her career took off.
She also discussed her first thoughts after seeing the Black Widow costume. Scarlett appears as Natasha Romanoff in the Avengers films in the MCU universe.
"Look at that thing. I mean, who wants to get into something like that?" Scarlett said.
"You just think, 'Oh god, really? Couldn't it have, like I don't know, some sort of a peplum skirt or something?' This thing is like very -- there you are. It was also everything it represented. The character was so beloved. She's an iconic character, and I didn't know how people were going to take it. What the hell was I doing in this franchise? It was daunting."
Scarlett can currently be seen on the big screen in the movie Rough Night alongside Jillian Bell, Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer. The film follows best friends from college who reunite for a wild bachelorette party. ~Brenden Zerihun
