Super Mario Bros. Movie three-peats at weekend box office

The Super Mario Bros. Movie held onto the top spot at the weekend box office, while two new movies made an appearance in the top five.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie remained No. 1 at the box office for the third weekend in a row, raking in an additional $58.2 million for a total of $434.3 million.

The horror movie Evil Dead Rise debuted in second place, taking in $23.5 million.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant starring Jake Gyllenhaal debuted in third place with a total of $6.3 million.

John Wick: Chapter 4 dropped one spot to fourth, earning another $5.8 million for a five-week total of $168.9 million.

Rounding out the top five this weekend was Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez, taking in an additional $5.6 million for a four-week total of $82.3 million. Click here to read our review. ~Alexandra Heilbron
