Super Mario Bros. Movie remains on top at weekend box office

The Super Mario Bros. Movie easily held onto the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row, raking in an additional $87 million for a total of $347.8 million -- an incredible accomplishment for a movie that's been in theaters for just over a week.

The Pope’s Exorcist starring Russell Crowe debuted in second, taking in $9.2 million.

Dropping just one spot to third was John Wick: Chapter 4 starring Keanu Reeves, which took in an extra $7.9 million for a four-week total of $160.1 million.

Another new movie, Renfield starring Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage, debuted in fourth place, earning $7.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was Air, starring Matt DamonBen Affleck and Jason Bateman. It dropped from fourth this weekend, with an additional $7.7 million for a two-week total of $33.3 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
