When mentally challenged siblings Samuel and Émilie learn that their mother has died in a car accident, they decide to run away from their group home to search for her. Convinced that she’s waiting for them in a clearing called Matchi Manitou, Samuel and Émilie travel deep into the forest in the middle of a harsh winter.

The various trials that they go through together strengthen their relationship, which up to then had been difficult.
