Named "the most influential comic book artist of all time" by Wizard Magazine, Will Eisner transformed the "funny papers" or comics by creating a whole new form of art -- the graphic novel.

Part of an extraordinary group of Jewish cartoonists, including Joe Shuster and Jerome Siegel (Superman), the Fleischer Brothers (Betty Boop), Stan Lee (Spider Man), Bob Kane (Batman) and countless others, Eisner was the most highly celebrated.

The Spirit, an urban crime fighter series, based in part on Eisner's upbringing in the tenements of New York, was a realistic portrayal of life on the streets, filled with subtle humour.

Eisner's life, work and times are wonderfully depicted in this documentary that includes interviews with Michael Chabon, Jules Feiffer, Neil Gaiman, Art Spiegelman, Frank Miller, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and others.
