Villa Amalia
The night she discovers that her husband Thomas is cheating on her, Ann Hidden, a famous Parisian pianist, bumps into George, a childhood friend. This providential meeting sets into motion a string of events. She leaves Thomas, sells her apartment, gives up her career and disappears from society, leaving her money in George’s bank account.
Ann travels throughout Europe, by train or on foot, letting herself be carried away by the unexpected. The anonymous traveler eventually finds herself on an Italian island where she falls in love with an abandoned mountainside villa that a relative of the deceased owner agrees to lease to her. Shortly after settling down there, she falls in love with Julia Ann, a young woman who saves her from drowning.
