Beneath the veneer of a beautiful home, a handsome husband and a painting career lies Chloe's secret world of abuse. Life is not what it seems. Even her best friend Laura won't see the truth. Her peaceful walks at the beach become haunted when the death of her husband and the loss of her possessions move her into poverty.
A grim basement room the only place that will take Chloe and her dog becomes a dreamscape of forgotten love mixed with terrifying memories. Only her new friend Ben, an artist she met at the beach provides an ear when she needs one.
Lilly and Murray, her new performance artist roommates worry she won't be able to pay the rent. The threat of no place to go, again becomes real for Chloe.
As the house is turned into an installation art piece, fire spinners and drummers disorient her and again she is not sure what is real and what is a dream.
As Lilly helps pull Chloe back to reality she makes some choices and sells some things left from her past. She starts to paint again and in telling Ben her story begins to get her power back. Ben challenges her to approach a gallery.
With the opening of her exhibit Chloe sees what seemed real may not be real at all.
