I have never seen the Play version of Phantom, and I felt like the movie was wonderful. I have seen it 4 times, going with each family member as they were available. I plan on perchacing the video the day it comes out. Minnie Driver was "the best" She did a tremendous job. We all know she sings incredibly well. I doesnt matter she didnt sing the opera. Loved the Movie better the 2nd and 3rd and 4th times.

There are not enough stars in order for me to vote. This movie is my all time favorite. I absolutely love gerard Butler, he is incredibly sexy in this movie and emmy rossum is incredibly beautiful in this movie. i love the music, especially the point of no return, that has to be my favorite song in the movie. I also love Learn to be Lonely, and All I Ask of You. Like I said words cannot describe this movie fully. I can`t wait until it comes to DVD May 3, 2005. I LOVE THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!!!

This movie moved me deeply. It was so captivating, there was not a sound in the audience. The singing and acting was amazing. Emmy rossum, Gerard Butler, and Patrick Wilson were perfect for their roles. No one else could have pulled it off. Andrew Lloyd Weber is really the master behind it all, though. I could not get the music out of my head. I`m very mad at the Oscars and Golden Globes. The Phantom of the Opera was way better than The Aviator, Million dollar baby and Ray(they only ignored "the phantom" because Chicago won last year). And come on, Emmy and Gerard definately deservered to at least get nominated for an Oscar, if not recieve a

The Phantom of the Opera blew me away. I saw it four times in the theatre. Emmy Rossum, was so good. She should have won the Oscar. Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson are hot! (and good actors). This is my favorite movie of all time. I love the music, I couldn`t get it out of my head. I would rate it 5/5.

It was just okay. I guess it`s one of those films that you have to be a musical fan of.

This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Romantic, intense, and full of gorgeous scenery, costumes, and music. I`ve seen the play, have both soundtracks, and the book. But this movie, is without a doubt a delight to the eye, ear, and heart. It has every right to be a classic. I have preordered it.

The movie was the best movie I have seen in quite a while. I had never seen the play, but the movie just took my breath away. It was so full of passion and want, it just drew me right into it.

I have seen the play 5 times over the years in New York (2X) , Philadephia,Chicago and London (a fun thing to do when traveling for business!). It is my favorite play of all time (and I do get to NY quite often from Philly to see many plays...). The romance triangle is not as apparent in the play, but very apparent in the movie due to actors being closer in age. The play is more Phantom as svengalli ... I never wanted the Phantom to get the girl in the play ... but, DEFINATELY in the movie! The movie also gave you so much more background to the story, and you can actually see facial expressions (unlike the play...even with good seats!). Th

I think everybody should see this movie at least once in their life. This movie is awesome I`ve already seen it 7 times and I plan on buying the DVD.

Gerard Butler is fabulous as the Phantom. I melted.

This movie is fantastic! I sat in the theatre in awe of the gripping spectacle. Although the actress playing Christine wasn`t the best trained singer she played the part of a young, 17 year old very well! I wasn`t overly impressed with the Phantoms voice, but again he did the job. I think the best performance by far was that of Count Raoul! His voice is absolutely superb! Thank-you for finaly making a movie of this wonderful musical opera!

WOW!!! Academy: I`m shaking my head. What happened to reflecting the true talent in film? This is one of the best masterpieces I`ve yet seen, and yet it fails to win ANY Golden Globes, ANY Academy Awards... but why? I`m now convinced the Oscars are purely political. If they were true representation of talent... this would have won as many as such dull films as The Aviator. Bravo to all!

I have seen this movie 3 times and before it left theaters, everytime someone said `We should go to the movies,` I would shout `Phantom of the Opera`. I own 3 copies of the soundtrack and as I write this I`m listening to it. My parents went to the play when I was 3 weeks old and bouhgt the soundtrack so I grew up listening to `The Phantom of the Opera` and I couldn`t wait for the movie. Emmy Rosom was born for this role and Patric Wilson is ssssoooooo HOT!!!!!

Phantom of the Opera was completely spellbinding. As soon as it began, my eyes never left the screen. Raoul was amazing, Christine was beautiful and the Phantom rendered me speechless.

I have been completely taken over by the performances in this film. Gerard Butler nails this part and this charachter better than anyone ever could. His acting and overall performance is most exceptional. There was only one other movie in my life that captivated me as this one has and that was "A Star Is Born" with Barbara Striesand and Kris Kristofferson. I have seen this movie 26 times and still cant get enough. I`m going to go broke if this film stays in the main theaters for much longer, but I hope it does and wish much success for Gerard and all the cast of this movie......BRAVO!!!!!!

I think that phantom is the best film i have ever seen! I went to see the show and then i went to the movie 3 times! Gerald Butler is brilliant and so is Emmy Rossum! I have print outs all over my room!

It would have been way better if they had cut some of the songs shorter but it was still a great movie to watch in the theatre. Watching it at home wouldn`t be the same.

I love it

Gerard Butler shows the most amazing emotions that sears deep into the soul of every person that sees him act. His stirring portrayal of the Phantom and his hauntingly, emotional and expressive tenor voice allows everyone to identify with some part of the Phantom. The movie was absolutely amazing.

Rarely can it be said that a leading actor can be so misscast - yet not affect the film he stars in detrimentally... But if ever there was a `perfect` example - this would be it. Having read all the `raveing` reviews on this Site, let me remind the authors that the visage of the Phantom was not that of a `beautiful` person - such as that portrayed by Butler... No, The Phantom`s true beauty rather lay in the gripping power of his voice... Indeed the Opera makes no sense (for those who bother to listen to the words) if his visage is appealing and outwardly dripping with sex apeal... Butler - who although can sing far better than 9/10`

Schumacher is an astounding director, but he proved that years ago with Batman Forever and 8MM. This is just more Glory to add to his mantlepiece.

Excellent movie! I was happy to see that though they basically filmed the play, at least as far as the staging and script are concerned, they didn`t forget that it was a movie that they were making...superbley filmed! I find it interesting that most people loved Gerard Butler as the Phantom, and those who didn`t made excuses for him and the casting director. I have to disagree. He was TERRIBLE! The acting was good, but since most of the dialogue was cut from the original script, the ability of the cast to sing is primary (or it should have been). Take Mini Driver, for example. There was an excellent job of casting: good acting skills, rig

A phenomenal movie! I think I was one of the few who went in never having seen the musical and with no real idea of the plot. So everything was wondrous for me! It was fast paced, engaging and gripping. The actors all did a magnificent job.
