In the trailer for The Half of It, high school student Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis) writes essays for other students to make money. She's approached by a student named Paul (Daniel Diemer), who doesn't want an essay, but a love letter to a girl because he's too shy to approach her. When he discovers something about Ellie no one else knows, it changes things for Ellie in ways she could never have anticipated.
