Tow-surfing pioneer Ross Clark-Jones, 49, and two-time world champion surfer Tom Carroll, 45, are true surfing legends in Australia. The longtime friends, who are also both fathers, continue to practice this daredevil sport with the complicity of meteorologist and surf-forecaster Ben Matson, who helps them track down the biggest and most dangerous waves across the Great Southern Ocean.
During the winter of 2011, as the three men tirelessly study climate variations, they spot a huge wave 75 km from the coast of Australia. Tom and Ross are determined to conquer it.
