June 1982, Sicily. While Italians dream of winning the World Cup, two teenagers dream of living their love story without fear. Gianni, 17, is harassed because of his homosexuality but his life changes when he meets Nino, 16, an endearing and innocent boy. The deep friendship they develop will seamlessly blossom into love, as they begin working together for Nino's father, setting off fireworks. When their connection is discovered by their families, the consequences are as violent as the times and morals are conservative. The two teenagers are separated by force but ready to defy everything and everyone, convinced that their love can conquer death.
