Eddie Palmer (Justin Timberlake) returns home to his grandmother Vivian (June Squibb), who's happy to see him after his 12-year stint in prison. When Sam, the little boy who lives next door, has to live with them when his mother takes off, Eddie grows fond of him. He decides that he has to do all he can to help the little boy and be there for him.
