The story examines the fate of the 1960s revolutionary generation. Judy Haussman is a feisty, high-society drop out who is not getting any younger. After an operation, she is joined by her children Nick and Libby, her granddaughter Summer, the local doctor Peter, and a troubled teenager named Daniel. Together they share the next few months, drinking all day and clinging to their chaotic world of infatuation, resentment, free love and failure. Through this, The Last of the Haussmans examines a portrait of a family that is losing grip.
