Although Christmas Eve coincides with Ramadan, Amokrane, a taxi driver of Algerian origin, is at work on the streets of Montreal. His wife and three children, who are waiting at home, hope he’ll return early. But Amokrane, tormented by his past, prefers the escape that the routine of driving a taxi gives him.
Kahina, an Algerian immigrant, is looking for her ex-husband, who has taken their daughter. She gets in Amokrane’s taxi and he immediately recognizes her as a famous singer whom he idolized when he was younger, but who is believed to be dead.
