In 2014, Adnan Al-Mahamid, an opponent of the regime of Bashar al-Assad, fled Syria to settle in Montreal with his wife Basmah and their four children. As the children acclimatize to their new surroundings, the parents feel anguish as they follow the development of the conflict that is tearing Syria apart, where all their loved ones have remained.
