In February 2012, when the New York Knicks were stuck in the middle of a disappointing season, they went on to do something no other NBA team had ever thought about doing. They gave backup point guard Jeremy Lin an opportunity to prove himself.
He took advantage of the situation and went on to score more points in his first five NBA starts than any other player in the modern era. The public went "Linsane." Prior to this, Lin had faced difficulties at every step in his career. He didn't receive a scholarship from any major university and he didn't get drafted to the NBA team, despite a standout collegiate career at Harvard.
