Three sisters who share the same unhappy childhood each live out their sad destinies. Living in the apartment where their father committed suicide, Sophie, the eldest sister, discovers that her husband has deceived her. Anne, the youngest, is thrown for a loop when her lover, an older professor, leaves. Middle sister Celine is single, and the only one to visit to their paralyzed and mute mother, who lives in a private hospital.

She meets a young man, Sebastien, who makes a startling revelation. Celine then understands the reasons that pushed her father to kill himself. Consequently, she tries to get her sisters together so they can finally accept their past and, perhaps, to dare to live the present fully.
