Khumba, an African Zebra, is born with stripes only covering half his body. When a mysterious drought in his land is blamed on him, he sets off to visit the magic waterhole to bring water to his land. On his way, he encounters a wildebeest who is excited about Khumba's journey and decides to tag along.
Khumba also meets meerkats and a rabbit who believes the half-striped zebra is a fascinating creature. While on the journey he encounters great dangers such as hunters and a tiger.
