During summer break, college freshman Lewis (Walker) drives across the country to pick up Venna (Sobieski), the girl of his dreams.
Along the way, he stops to rescue his trouble-making older brother, Fuller (Zahn), who talks him into playing a practical joke with a CB radio. The brothers and Venna get sucked into a nightmare when a psychotic truck driver, known only by his CB handle, Rusty Nail, seeks revenge.
