Filmmaking duo Eric and Jeffrey Leiser collaborate to craft this dreamlike fantasy that combines live action, stop motion animation, and other experimental film techniques to tell the tale of two sisters who may have developed the powers to transcend the physical realm. Anna is a young girl who seems to be drifting ever farther away from reality.

When Anna is diagnosed with a form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome by a famous neuro-psychologist named Dr. Reinegar, her father buckles under the stress and abandons the family. Lately, Anna's blind twin sister Sarah has been experiencing a series of imaginary visions that seem somehow mapped to those of her increasingly withdrawn sibling.

As the harsh reality of their shattered family and the constant medical tests become too much to process, the sisters both begin sink into a vivid imaginative world and experience prophetic visions. When Anna and Sarah's mother is killed in an earthquake, Dr. Reinegar becomes more determined than ever to solve the mystery of the now-orphaned twins.

But the girls seem to have other plans, and after escaping from the doctor's institution they seem to vanish without a trace. Could it be that these two troubled sisters have somehow unlocked the secret to exploring new realities?
