Director Frank Wimart goes on a journey to find answers to his many questions, including this one: why did his father, Jean-Pierre, abandon him when he was just a child? His journey leads him first to France, where he meets up with relatives, including his grandmother, who was widowed shortly before the end of the Second World War. Then, in the Dominican Republic, he finds his father, who prefers the simplicity of this country rather than the stifling strictures of France, Quebec, and especially the family home.
