The Beach Rats trailer begins with a young man, Frankie (Harris Dickinson), being questioned by his mother about his whereabouts. We see he spends his time at the local carnival, where he meets a young girl. Seemingly leading the life of a typical young man, hanging around with his friends and this new girl, Frankie is discovering he desires the attention of older men and must deal with the confusion and concern of his family and friends as he comes to terms with his true identity.
