The official trailer for The Circle begins as Mae (Emma Watson) sits down for an interview with a prominent tech company called The Circle. She is asked to describe The Circle, and she responds with the following explanation: "It's the chaos of the web made elegant."

As the trailer continues, we learn more about the company. We see its founder (Tom Hanks) deliver a speech in an auditorium, saying that there is no problem The Circle can't solve. Its employees can cure diseases and end hunger. He says, "Without secrets, without the hoarding of knowledge and information, we can finally realize our potential." But a sense of doubt creeps in and an ominous tone slowly takes over as we see how invasive the company is through the use of surveillance. 

The clip ends as the founder says, "Knowing is good, but knowing everything is better."
