During a trip to Chile, a boorish, insensitive American (Michael Cera) in his 20s takes a road trip with his friends to experience the San Pedro cactus, a legendary shamanistic hallucinogen.

Along the way, he’s accompanied by an eccentric woman named Crystal Fairy (Gabby Hoffman) and finds himself butting heads with his new travel companion.
