Best theater on the east side

June 08, 2019

i love going to the Vista. The manager is a great and personable guy and the theater is awesome. Were I to quibble I would say they tend to show too many dumb action films of the Marvel Comics variety and not enough adult dramas, but I can see those over at the Los Feliz 3 or somewhere else. Also, I have occasionally wished they had hot dogs and not just popcorn and candy, but better for my health so who cares. I like how spacious the theater is so I don't have to be right next to people who blab through the whole movie or are constantly checking their cell phones; how annoying! This is why more and more people are watching movies at home. The Vista is the coolest theater in Hollywood; everyone should go at least once.

Beautiful theater but poor movie-going experience these days

July 27, 2019

I've been going here on and off for 15 years but have noticed the quality really decline in recent years. One time, the digital projector broke at the climax of the movie and it was 30 minutes before it was up and running (no refunds offered). And recently trying to see a popular movie where tickets were still being sold but there was nowhere to sit. It would be great if they implemented seat numbers for occasions like these. Aggressive hipsters were saving entire rows for friends who had not yet shown up leaving others to wander around without seats (and ultimately having to leave since there was nowhere to sit). While the latter is more a reflection of the neighborhood demographics these days, it would be great if they worked on creating a better and more orderly experience. It's such a beautiful theater and used to be such a fun place to see a movie.
