We love the Piedmont Theatre and cannot wait for it to re-open! Peter, get better!! You and the theatre are the center of our neighborhood! And you show the movies we really want to see (save the blockbusters for Jack London).

Dismal theater: bad screens at a weird angle, no stadium seating

January 30, 2020

They might play good movies, but the place is an abominable dump. The screens are small and have been chopped up in weird ways, the seats are run down and there is no stadium seating ( heads in front of your sightline.) Not my idea of quality viewing.

Where else can you go to see excellent movies (ones with plots and compelling characters)? I'm rarely disappointed by any movie shown in this theater. Even the movie trailers are compelling and well matched to the feature movie (unlike so many other theaters, especially the megaplex ones). If you like great independent movies with lots of great restaurants and interesting shops. Finding parking can be a little challenging, but otherwise, this is a great little theater.

Films for the thinking person

December 29, 2017

I love Star Wars, but I also like films that move me from the jump-up, frenetic action flicks to those that create questions as I view. The kind of film where one desires a conversation about it afterward. Piedmont theater gives us this kind of film. The theater itself is fine, downstairs. Upstairs, it is still somewhat cramped. The popcorn is great, and the alternative snacks offered are a great idea.
