best theater

August 02, 2018

We have a theater in our hometown but we chose to drive an hour to come here. Everything is amazing! Super happy with everything, great seats, popcorn, staff, sound. Absolutely love the reserved seating with our pre paid tickets. We can breeze in at the last minute and have the seats we want. LOVE IT

Clean, Friendly and Fun theatre

We visit Alexandria about once a month and I try to catch a movie each time. Great place to escape for a few hours and enjoy some popcorn.

Bummer sound system

June 19, 2021

I have seen 2 movies in the last 2 years: Frozen 2 and IN THE HEIGHTS. For the first movie i was in the back of a long narrow room next to side speakers that were playing the surround channels, but from where we sat the main speakers (behind the screen) were so distant that it was lip reading. Disney wouldn't release a movie print that far out of balance. This week i sat in an 80 seat theatre (without side speakers that i could see.) I watched for an hour grinding my teeth and finally had to get up and ask an attendant to check the volume to see if it was normal volume range. It's a frickin MUSiCAL and its supposed to knock your teeth out. Its a frickin Lin-Manuel Miranda Tony award winning musical. Then the theatre next to us started and we got to hear that rumbling. The sound was thin, flat and compressed like an 80s radio station. Turning it up would have likely just exposed how bad the sound system is. It would be passable for a drama, or a Rom Com, but forget Sci Fi or a Broad Comedy. Sorry, my home TV and Sound is better. This is not the way to remember going out for something to touch your heart or get your toes tapping. I havent been in one of the "big rooms" yet but i dont want to have to call the box office to check what times are in what room. I doubt I would come back.
