Don't rely on cashiers

My husband purchased a bag of Reeses Cups by mistake. I came behind him, still standing in the concession line, and said that I would rather have the Reeses pieces instead. The cashier had no idea how to do a refund or exchange. There was a line of people behind us and the movie was getting ready to start. We paid for the Reeses Pieces and put the Reeses Cups back. Told the cashier we would be back after the movie, asked him if he saw us put them back which he confirmed, and he said he would be there after we got done to complete the transaction. Movie gets done, and we head to the concession stand, and the kid has no idea what we are talking about. He goes and tells the manager that we took the candy in the movie theatre, put it back after the movie and now wanted a refund. So instead of doing what we asked, we had to stand there and wait while he went and lied about us. He then comes back and hands us $4.25. Wrong amount but whatever. The kid doesn't enter it in the register as a refund nor does he provide the tax we paid. So that register will be off tonight. Lesson learned. Don't rely on a kid at the concession stand to do their job.
