STEVE OEDEKERK

Date of Birth: November 27, 1961

Born in California, Oedekerk started on the stage as a successful stand-up comedian. When an opening for a writer for the comedy show In Living Color became available in 1990, Oedekerk took the job. While writing comedy skits, he became closely acquainted with actor/comedian Jim Carrey, who was developing Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The two collaborated and the script and film became a reality a few years later.

With the huge and unexpected success of Ace Ventura, Oedekerk decided to write and direct the sequel a year later, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995). Oedekerk went on to write many more scripts for popular films such as The Nutty Professor (1996), Patch Adams (1998) and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001).

In 1997, Oedekerk released a television special that he created, wrote, directed, produced and starred in, called steve.oedekerk.com. The show featured a mixture of stand-up comedy and sketches. Through the years Oedekerk has kept his downtime busy by entertaining an online audience creating short skits with 'thumb characters' to mock various Hollywood hits like Star Wars and Titanic.

In 2001 he returned to the feature film sphere and created Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Acting as director, producer, writer and star, the film was a spoof on all Kung Fu action films to date. He then ventured into the world of animation with Barnyard: The Original Party Animals (2006), featuring the voices of Kevin James, Danny Glover and Wanda Sykes, as well as himself.
