The trailer for Novitiate begins with a young girl (Margaret Qualley) telling her upset mother (Julianne Nicholson) that she is going to become a nun. We see the girl with a class of other young women ready to begin their journey to become a part of the Church. But the process is not easy, and the Reverend Mother (Melissa Leo) is rigid in her ways, believing the Church need not change into anything other than what it has been since she has been a part of it. It is a conflict of ideas and ideology that brings the women together.
