In the official trailer for The Birdwatcher, Saffron (Camille Sullivan) is told by a doctor that "the cancer has metastasized" and that "there's another tumor." She stares at him in disbelief and we later see her smoking in the backseat of a car.
As the trailer continues, we see the woman interact with her two children and consider what options there are for them once she succumbs to cancer. She decides to track down her mother Birdy, who's a well-known ornithologist with a book to prove it, and see whether she'll be the caregiver her kids need, even though Birdy abandoned Saffron several years ago. The pair struggle to reconnect and encounter difficulty when trying to interact.
