In this trailer for the documentary Knock Down the House, we are introduced to congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, before the mid-term elections. She gives a quick rundown of her upbringing and the challenges she faces in a world she didn't envision herself being a part of. We are then introduced to Amy Vilela and her driving purpose in running for Congress, which is healthcare for struggling families. Congressional candidate Cori Bush is introduced as the next candidate, who highlights the added scrutiny and difficulties she, as a woman of color, faces to represent a district that is downtrodden. Lastly is Paula Jean Swearengin, running for the U.S. senate, who took to politics after watching those around her that she loved being affected by the coal industry and being ignored. These four women, among others, face a daunting, uphill battle in the world of male-dominated politics as they look to make a difference for the communities they serve.
