Jessica Rothe Biography

Jessica Rothe is an American actress best known for her work as Theresa Gelbman in Happy Death Day (2017) and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U (2019) and as Alexis in La La Land (2016).

Born in Denver, Colorado, Jessica began taking ballet lessons when she was eight, which led her to enrolling in a theater group in Kansas shortly after, where she began to develop skills and passion for acting.

Jessica attended Boston University, graduating in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

Although her acting experience began in theater, Jessica decided to make the shift towards film and television.

In 2010, she made her small screen debut in an episode of America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back, as Bojana Mitic.

In 2016, Jessica appeared in the Academy-award winning movie La La Land, where she played Alexis, the roommate of Emma Stone's character, Mia. Her work in La La Land really boosted her career.

After making guest appearances on a number of TV shows, in 2016 Jessica landed her first leading role in the comedy series Mary + Jane.

In 2017, she played Theresa Gelbman in the horror film, Happy Death Day. Her performance earned praise from critics, as well as a Best Actress nomination from the New Mexico Film Critics and Fright Meter Awards. She then reprised the role in the sequel Happy Death Day 2U (2019).

In 2020, she played Samantha on the Prime Video series Utopia, which was cancelled after one season, leaving her free to take on a starring role opposite Harry Shum Jr. in the romantic feature film All My Life (2020).

Jessica has been engaged to fellow actor, Eric Clem, since 2019. ~Sean Olegario
