DAVID RAY

Born in Montreal, David Ray is a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical University's Film Studies Program and The National Screen Institute's "Features First" Program. He began his career as a production assistant working on television moviessuch as The X-Files and The Marshal (both 1993). He switched to film work with Rhythm Thief (1994) and Little Criminals (1995).

Ray moved to trainee assistant director with the TV movie Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998) and the series These Arms of Mine (1999) before making his feature directorial debut with Fetching Cody, for which he also wrote the screenplay. The film premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival and was given a limited Canadian theatrical release in 2006.

Future projects in development include Long Harbor, a supernatural thriller, and The Privateer, an offbeat and romantic pirate story.

Ray lives in Vancouver.
