DAVID FRANKEL

Date of Birth: April 2, 1959

Born in New York City, David Frankel is the son of former executive editor of The New York Times, Max Frankel. A Harvard University graduate, he has gone on to do great things in film.

His first film, Miami Rhapsody (1995), starred Sarah Jessica Parker, whom he would later work with on her series Sex and the City. From there Frankel's directorial career skyrocketed. Although he may not have a large number of movies to his name, the majority of his films have boasted A-list actors, including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, and that's just in his film The Devil Wears Prada (2006). Frankel also worked with Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson in Marley & Me (2008), Jack Black and Steve Martin in The Big Year (2011) and Steve Carell and Tommy Lee Jones in Hope Springs (2012). Most recently, he directed an ensemble casting, including Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, and Kate Winslet, in the drama Collateral Beauty (2016).

Frankel can also be commended for his Oscar-winning 1996 short film Dear Diary as well as his work on the series Band of Brothers, which won both a Christopher Award and an Emmy Award in 2002.

Frankel married Jennifer Beber in May of 1998 in a double wedding they shared with Beber's sister.
