In the official trailer for Paterson, a male bus driver named Paterson (Adam Driver) is beginning his morning. From his driver's seat, he asks a co-worker how he is doing. The colleague recites a laundry list of chores or duties he regretfully has to complete and returns the question to Paterson, who simply responds, "I'm okay."
As the trailer continues, we're taken through the daily routine of Paterson's simple life. We learn that he lives and works in a city coincidentally called Paterson, he is a poet, he has a romantic relationship with a woman (Golshifteh Farahani) and he has an English bulldog. We witness him deal with a situation aboard his bus and endearingly entertain his lover's idea of becoming a country singer in Nashville.
