Terribly overrated film. Far too drawn out, and a real bore to watch. The characters are by no means interesting either.

I thought Spider was excellent. It gave you a look at how someone has lost there mind and what they live through. It is at some point during the movie a little confusing, especially at the end. But I got all of it and would see it 100 times more. If you like deep thinking intellectual movies this is the one for you.

Spider was well shot, well acted, and an interesting look at the mind of someone who`s completely lost his mind, but as great as all that was, it seemed kind of a waste. Maybe waste isn`t the best word for it, but it was very...different. By the end, I was just like `Oh, so Spider really IS crazy`. Ralph Fiennes has nearly no real dialogue, it`s mostly mubbling, but it`s a great performance as always. Gabriel Byrne played his character great, and Miranda Richardson...well, she was really the movie. Anyway, it is a good movie if you enjoy thinking, but if you want a quick fix for entertainment perposes, don`t see it. I liked it though.

David Cronenberg is one weird puppy. Talk about an edipus complex. Me thinks the man maybe thinks too much. Fiennes acting was admirable but there shouldn`t be an Oscar in the future for this role. I was reminded of the film "Shine". An Oscar shouldn`t be handed out for half a role. If you happen to miss out on seeing this film, breathe a healthy sigh of relief, and count yourself lucky. You aren`t missing much.
